Confusion (by D.A. Cobb)

imagesToday I saw another clever and innovative billboard. It was posted by the all familiar local restaurant and read, “4 meals for under $4.” Now does that mean you can get all four meals for less than four dollars or each of the four meals cost less than four bucks? Of course we all know the answer but at the time it did seem confusing. Another drive thru chain has recently begun an advertising campaign which states, “Four Meals for Four Dollars, Each.” Much better!

“Your eyes will see strange sights

and your mind will imagine confusing things.”

                                                                                            Proverbs 23:33

The Word of God was not written to confuse us. The words of holiness found in the Book of Truth are complete, honest and pure. And how do we know? Because they are inspired by God. Imagine for a moment holding the Bible in your hands and knowing the divine power of God’s inspiration is resting on your palms.  Can you sense the history, hear the promises and feel the assurances? And have you ever considered the sacrifices made on your behalf? Not only by those who lived, prophesized and wrote the chapters, but also the one’s who came later, those with the strength, courage and testimony to defend its message.

The greatest sacrifice of all was done by Christ Himself. He suffered a painful death on a cross as punishment for our multiple sins. This was His gift to us, so we could understand the magnitude of the resurrection and to receive the truth of everlasting life.

Read what Jesus said in the book written by John,

“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live,

even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.

Do you believe this?”

                                                John 11:25

Has anyone shown you as much love as your crucified Shepherd?
