“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” – James 1:2-4.
I find this scripture comforting when I am facing a trial. Lately, my trials would be considered small, insignificant, or even petty by most. When compared to the Tsunami in Japan or the unrest in the middle east, they are definitely small and insignificant.
Yet, they are struggles. They are real, heartbreaking, and painful for me. I try to be strong and not allow the saddness to be burdensome, but I have found that some days are more difficult than others. Today is one of those days. Overall, the day has been wonderful. Then in one instance it changes.
I am faithful and I hold onto the promises that God has made to me. This doesn’t mean that I don’t have questions. I wish I could just see into the future and understand the why. I wish that God would just reach in and save the day but then I wouldnt be the person He is trying to help me become.
“In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.” – 1 Peter 1:6
Though I may not understand the struggles that I face – I can hold onto the promises of a new tomorrow. I can rest assured that there is purpose. Some days that purpose seems impossible, and the burden feels to heavy too carry – that is when I feel His presence even more.
I have noticed much sadness and discontent in many people around me. I know that I am not the only one pressed to hold true to our faithfulness. We each have burdens. We all desire to see our futures and try to understand God’s master plan for our lives. It is what defines who we are….the faithful.
So today, as I struggle with the many questions, I will stand strong. Today, as I wipe away the tears of frustration and sadness – I will STAY faithful and BELIEVE that He is ever faithful. Today, I will CHOOSE to believe in all that He has given me. Today, I will STAND strong and rejoice that I am His beloved.
“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” – Romans 8:18
If you are facing a struggle, the darkness seems to dense to walk through….stay faithful and feel His loving arms surrounding you.
Love to all, Jen
