My heart was nearly broken yesterday. How is it that a person could never have experienced happiness? Is it possible to forget what happiness feels like? Have I ever experienced such pain that I could, literally, forget what happiness was like?
A beautiful woman of God said those very words to me yesterday. “Jen, I dont know if I have ever really experienced true happiness.” I was stunned and deeply saddened for her. It got me thinking….What does happiness really look like – How does happiness feel? Perhaps in order to really know, we must first define what that word looks like in our lives.
So….Happiness is……..the sound of my children laughing. Music – all sorts that make me smile, dance, or just close my eyes. Peace, contentment, sunshine… Happiness is knowing that I’m loved, cherished, and having certainty that it wont end. An embrace, smile, kind word…
Happiness is the giggle of a baby, open road, and girlfriends…..its knowing that you’re finally home. Its the warmth of your bed, a kiss, and chocolate! Happiness is a kept promise, a familiar voice, a gentle breeze.
Happiness is forgiveness, acceptance, a second chance. It is unconditional love, having faith, words of wisdom – new life, life after death. Angels, miracles, grace, blessed and resurrection. Happiness is the Alpha, Omega, Yahweh, Jehovah, Beloved,Adonai…..It is the beginning and the end…..the One who gives all…
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. (KJV)
What does your happiness look like?
If we haven’t truly experienced happiness….perhaps we haven’t really experienced Him who is the creator of all.
Love to all, Jen
