Blooming in Adversity (by Tony Rumble)

tonyI love the way God chooses to speak when we least expect it. From time to time, I get behind in my gardening, and weeds spring up everywhere. Thistles and maple sprouts start running amuck. I often contrast the weeds in the flowerbeds around my house with the “weeds” in my personal life.  The other day after church I had lunch with some friends. We chatted about the weeds in my life.  As I drove home, I pondered our lunchtime conversation.  As I arrived home, exited my vehicle, and walked up to the front door, I spotted a rosebud trying to bloom amongst the weeds–not only that, but this is also late October.  I felt as though God was reminding me that even in adversity there is beauty. How often do we need to be reminded to see the beauty amongst the weeds?  With a little work our gardens can bloom once again. With that said, with a little trimming and pruning from God, the Master Gardner, we too can begin to bloom and bring hope and joy to others.

Prayer:  Thank You God for the trials and tribulations in our lives. Without them we would not be able to see Your Beauty and the beautiful work You are accomplishing in our lives. For this we are grateful. Amen

Scripture Reading: James 1:2-3  New Living Translation  Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
