Along for the Ride (by Lindsey Winneroski)

“This is what the Lord says – your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.” Isaiah 48:17, NIV

Life could be described as a road trip. You pack everything you might need times two. You always think to yourself, “What if…” or “I might need this…” However, you always end up not needing the vast majority of what you packed and manage to forget the things that you actually needed. No matter how hard you try to prepare, the unknown variables seem to provide potholes and obstacles. And let’s face it; the hotel toothbrushes and body soap are far from fantastic. We panic when the unexpected comes. The very thing that is out of our reach equates to anxiety and doubt. As we press the gas pedal in this life we as humans often forget something quite critical… We may be pushing the accelerator, but God controls the brake pedal and directs the steering wheel. He may, at any moment, stop us in our tracks or turn us in a completely different direction. We just have to trust that we are safely strapped in and along for the ride. No matter what construction sites or detours we run into, we just have to have the faith that He alone will get us to our destination. Feeling like you are at a stop light at the moment? The arrow is now turning green.
