It is an awful reality we could never have imagined. We have a room in our house… the one at the top of the stairs on the left, right next to ours that our son DIED in….
“That” room is now our GUEST room. Some folks coming from out of town for a visit to our home could NEVER sleep there! I don’t really blame them for that…It’s HARD!
But Oh…Those DEAR ONES who DO come and stay with us and sleep in “that’ room….BLESS THEM!!! In some small way it feels like they “enter in” to our world as painful as that is. They don’t turn away or keep a comfortable distance!
How that reminds me…
It is an awful reality that you and I were born sinners, enemies of God destined to be separated from our Holy Creator for time and eternity!
But Oh… the BLESSED One came….He didn’t turn away or keep distant from us! He “entered in” to our world as broken and hopeless as it was! God’s word says, “He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.” (Hebrews 9:26b)
You see the Savior took the “awfulness” and ugliness of our sin upon Himself. He laid in OUR bed…OUR grave! (The one we deserve.) An old poem I read said that Jesus “sweetened” the grave by taking away the sting and finality of death. Actually, in the POWER of His resurrection Jesus BLEW a hole a mile wide right THROUGH the grave!!! So doing, He cleared for us a passage that leads all the way to HEAVEN! Could there be ANY better news than this? ”Therefore brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body…” (Hebrews 10:19&20)
So it is all settled and YOUR ROOM has been reserved… in the VERY HOME of your Father!
