Each morning before I get out of bed I remind myself that something good is going to happen to me today – it’s amazing how taking a few minutes at the start of the day to remind myself that good is going to happen can make for a more pleasant day. I also plan and set my thoughts in the direction God has set for me by reminding myself that God IS working in my life right now. When I do this it seems that my life is more empowered and I seem to accomplish so much more for the glory of God.
I used to get caught up in the activity where I tended to just “go with the flow” instead spending time with God. I’m not saying we shouldn’t be flexible but when it comes to our life, we should be the one setting the flow by listening to God. I know the unexpected can happen. Like I got the shingles – so much pain that I didn’t want to do anything. The good came when I found out from the doctor that I only had the shingles – I was in so much pain I was imagining all kinds of bad things.
Our days won’t always go according to plan, but if we take time each day to set our heart and mind on what God has planned for us we will be equipped for whatever comes our way. With the shingles I can be more sympathetic with those who had shingles – when I got home from the doctor’s office I called my good friend Bill and told him I now understood completely what he was going through last fall when he called to tell me he had the shingles. I prayed for him but I had no idea what he was going through – now I know.
Today I encourage you, make plans to start your day by setting your thoughts on the good that God desires to bring into your life. Put God in first place. Let God guide you and order your steps. Even if it’s just a few minutes a day, make spending time with God a habit before you get out of bed. Plan your day looking to God because this will bring good into your day as well as joy and peace in your life. It sure has made a big difference in mine.
Let us pray: O Lord I dedicate all my days to You. I choose to put You first in everything that I do. Give me the strength to make wise choices and teach me to listen to Your voice always. I know with You Lord that something good is going to happen to me today. I do in prayer bless You and honor You as I pray in the Name of Your Son – Jesus. Amen.
