“Very truly, I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will have pain, but your pain will turn into joy. When a woman is in labor, she has pain, because her hour has come. But when her child is born, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy of having brought a human being into the world. So you have pain now; but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.” John 16:20-22
Life is worth living if you don’t give in to your hurts and pains. Yes life is worth living if you are willing to learn the lessons it has to offer. One of the best ways to learn is from other people’s experiences – from books, stories, tapes, films and videos. We are called to be learners all our lives. Life is worth living if you don’t stop growing and becoming all you can become – we do this best when we are willing to learn.
Life is worth living if you don’t give in to your hurts and pains. Yes life if worth living if you do your best. When they count your wins and losses don’t let them say you didn’t do your best. If at first you don’t succeed try, try again is an old saying worth doing. Keep on keeping on. Follow the star to your goal. Life is worth living if you don’t give up, if you don’t quite, if you keep on keeping on no matter what.
Life is worth living if you don’t give in to your hurts and pains. Yes life is worth living if you stay the course. The key many times is just to hang in there – to keep on keeping on – to have staying power. Someone defined resolve as promising yourself that you’ll never give up – being willing to do it until. Life is worth living if you don’t give up on your dream and stay the course until that dream is realized.
Life is worth living if you don’t give in to your hurts and pains. Yes life is worth living if you care about life. Not only are we to care about positive results in life we are to care for our day, for people, for enterprise and for ourselves. Care enough to become all you can become. Care enough to have something good and meaningful to say to yourself and to others as well and to be willing to pass it on. Life is worth living if you don’t give in to your hurts and pains.
Let us pray: It’s so easy Lord to give in to our hurts and pains. We can become so blind by our hurts and pain that we overlook the joy You have waiting for us in each and every moment. We so easily forget that You want something good to happen to each of us with each breath that we take. We get stuck on “what about me” and worry about each little hurt and pain. Lord You came overlooking Your own pain and hurt that You might become our Emmanuel – the One who came to Save us from ourselves. Yes life is worth living because You sent Jesus. Amen.
